Green Waste & Recycling

Meadow Green Gardens and our commitment to recycling our waste.

Meadow Green Gardens deals with a large wide variety of different types of garden waste, and recycling these materials is an everyday part of the services that we provide. Below is a breakdown on how, what and where we dispose of these items.

Grass, Shrubs and Trees: All our green waste such as grass cuttings, old shrubs and trees will all be turned into nutrient-rich soil conditioner that can be used in a range of different applications such as multipurpose compost that you can buy at garden centres…

Bricks and Concrete: All bricks, old flags and fence post will be sent to a crusher and the broken down material will either be recycled to make more bricks and will be used to out down to build new developments such as roads…

Garden Stones: Garden stones come in all shapes and sizes and once cleaned up we store them and then give them to local community and supported projects for them to be reused and build new features such as garden rockeries, the smaller stones can be used to build pathways, larger stones can be used for edging for pathways and can also be used for fish pond liners etc.

Fencing, Decking & Wood: Garden fence panels are broken down and re-used to make chipboard and other forms of re-usable wood that you can buy in your local hardware stores…

Plastic: Garden plastic such as thick heavy plastics, plastic buckets and plastic flower pots will be also shredded and re-used and recycled that will go back into anything from the same heavy duty plastics and heavy duty bags etc…

Garden Tools: Every job we seem to work on we come across unwanted tools which can be anything from shovels, spades, to old lawnmowers, to rakes, rollers, cutters, shearers etc. We take all the tools back to our depot and clean them up and these tools are given to community and supported projects for free…

Toys: We come across hundreds of toys each year and once again we clean up what we can, and we donate to community and supported projects when possible. All the other heavy duty plastic gets chopped up and sorted into pellets and re-used for new plastic products…

Garden Furniture: A lot of people each year like to re-new their garden furniture and a lot of the old furniture is taken to the local dump never to be seen again. Again, working with our community and supported projects we advertise used garden furniture on our website that they can pick up for free…

Push Bikes: We come across a lot of Push Bikes and these are a valuable resource that we give to all the community and supported projects that we work with. All the bikes are either repaired or stripped down for parts to be used in local projects….

Glass: We collect any glass, and this is melted down and re-used for a whole host of glass related project. Were possible if we come across any greenhouses these will be taken down and offered to several allotment users that we know for free….

Metal: Any metal is collected and taken to the local scrap dealers’ yard. Any money made from the scrap with be held at Meadow Green Gardens and then given to one of the communities and supported projects of our choice. The images of the scrap money being awarded can be viewed on our website….
